I have a new Palm Centro using ActiveSync to sychronize my outlook
applications. It works great via the wireless connection. However, after I
downloaded the ActiveSync 4.5 and installed in my laptop running XP, the
ActiveSync Manager never pops up with the device plug in to the USB port. The
HotSync is working though. I tried to disabled the HotSync, but still the
same. Any suggestions or this is not suppose to work at all for the Palm OS?

Thanks in advance,

Song

Hi Song,

Looking at the specs -
http://www.palm.com/us/products/smartphones/centro/#specs it isn't running
on Windows Mobile operating system. So ActiveSync wouldn't be compatible
with your phone.

So, in another words, the activesync only works between the exchange server
to the mobile device, but not Desktop PC to the device. Is this correct? It
is odd since the Goodlink suppose to work with the Palm OS, but not for this
model either, they told me I have to use ActiveSync.

Thanks for the reply,

Song

Hi,

From article id 17681 under http://kb.palm.com/

"Microsoft ActiveSync as a whole is not used in Palm OS products, but the
Exchange component of ActiveSync (i.e. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync) is
used in both Palm OS-based Treo smartphones and Windows Mobile-based Pocket
PCs to communicate with the Exchange server."
