I have a Jornada handheld running MS Pocket PC Software 2002 and Pocket
Outlook. I am running MS Office 2000 Premium on my WinXP desktop. A few
weeks ago I downloaded an auto maintenance program that was supposed to sync
with the one I've been running on the handheld for years..but it wouldn't
work with my Jornado because the operating system is too old...long story
short..I upgraded to ActiveSync 4.5 to run it...and now my handheld will not
sync with the desktop. I also have a Toshiba laptop running WinXP and it will
not sync with it either! I ran the troubleshooter in ActiveSync and it said
it was not compatible with the version of Outlook I'm running...to upgrade to
Outlook for XP! Not an option! Is there a way to get it to work again??

Hi,

Outlook 2000 is not supported by ActiveSync 4.5. You can consider going
back to the ActiveSync version that was working for you.

Outlook 2000 is on my desktop but the documentation for he handheld says that
it is running Outlook 2002 if that matters. I did try going back to v 3.6 but
it still wouldn't connect. I really didn't want to do a hard reset of the
pockte PC because I would loose what's on it. Thanks for your suggestion
though.

Hi,

I didn't understand what you are referring to below:

> it is running Outlook 2002 if that matters.

I would suggest you try the steps explained on this page -
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/AS40Guest.html and then reinstall the 3.6
version. If it doesn't help, could you provide more information about what
exactly happens when you connect the device? Does it appear under the
Device Manager when attached? Does the green sync wheel start to spin upon
connection?

I have also been using Outlook 2002 for over a year with Activesync 4.5.
It worked fine for a while and then, all of a sudden, disconnected.
Haven't been able to get to connect since.
