I have a Windows XP laptop, running Office 2007, with a HTC TyTn2 Windows
Mobile 6 device and ActiveSync v4.5. The PDA is setup to sync Calendar,
Contacts, and Tasks. The synchronisation worked fine for about 3 weeks, and
then all new items stopped synchronising to the PDA. No errors were shown
on the ActiveSync program on the laptop or PDA.

In an attempt to fix the problem, I deleted the device relationship on the
laptop and PDA, which now synchronises no items at all - again showing no
errors in ActiveSync.

I have done a hard reset on the device to no avail.

There are some errors in the ActiveSync logs - eg in WCESLog.log

p(5168) t(3644) TraceToFile -> ERROR in CMAPIDataHandler::_GetDataForItem :
hr = 0x80004002 - DataHandler.cpp(1873)

I have also tried:

- synchronising a different PDA on the same laptop which worked
successfully.
- creating a new Outlook profile which gave the same error.
- Running scanpst on the Outlook PST file.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brett.

Hi,
Are you able to connect? What is the exact error message?

Also, see

Hi Chris,

Yes I'm able to connect - the ActiveSync window shows no errors. The only
indication that something is not right is that there are no
calendar/contact/task items on the PDA.

Here's another except from wceslog.log:

04/01/2008 12:33:16.266 p(5604) t(6136) TraceToFile -> ERROR in
CMAPIDataConverterBase::ConvertMAPIPropToDesktopSyncObject : hr =
0x80004002 - DataConverter.cpp(4133)
04/01/2008 12:33:16.266 p(5604) t(6136) TraceToFile -> ERROR in
CMAPIDataHandler::_GetDataForItem : hr = 0x80004002 - DataHandler.cpp(1924)
04/01/2008 12:33:16.266 p(5604) t(6136) SyncMgr -> Opening Item: echo
CreateObject("Outlook.Application").GetNameSpace("MAPI").GetItemFromId("00000000222EF0056E00044EBB3810E369782281046B2400").Display
> foo.vbs && foo.vbs - mhelp.cpp(8587)
04/01/2008 12:33:16.266 p(5604) t(6136) SyncMgr -> Opening Item: echo
CreateObject("Outlook.Application").GetNameSpace("MAPI").GetItemFromId("00000000222EF0056E00044EBB3810E369782281246B2400").Display
> foo.vbs && foo.vbs - mhelp.cpp(8587)
04/01/2008 12:33:16.266 p(5604) t(6136) SyncMgr -> Opening Item: echo
CreateObject("Outlook.Application").GetNameSpace("MAPI").GetItemFromId("00000000222EF0056E00044EBB3810E369782281446B2400").Display

ActiveSync reports synchronisation successful.

I'm able to browse the web on the PDA through the USB connection ok.

It's a very similar problem to:

http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=samsung&thread.id=39464

Any other suggestions would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Brett.

I know it's will not help you but I have the exact same problem with my new
HTC Touch running XP and Office 2007. On my PC I am also running a virtual XP
machine and from that virtual machine I can sync my HTC without any issues.
So I suspect it is an hardware problem. By the way my host PC is a Mac
running XP with Boot Camp...
