So after several hours of troubleshooting I have narrowed this issue down to
being an issue whereby if you connect to your exchange server on an internal
IP Address via Wireless/USB etc. when you go offline and use GPRS over the
internet I will get an ActiveSync Failure with the error above.... on
network tracing it is obvious that the device is not even connecting in to
the server or getting to the external firewall, and I assume it is still
using the internal IP to resolve the Exchange Server, locally connected to
the internal network though it is fine. A Soft reset fixes the issue until
you connect to the internal IP again.
On searching on the Net I see that this is not a new problem and has been
around for a while but does anyone know if there is a fix available yet?
I have tried the reg entries to disable the IE DNS Cache but this does not
work for me with WM 6 on my 02 XDA Steller.
I do think however that there is a separate DNS resolution cache, or it
writes it somewhere else for ActiveSync specifically as when the issue is
occuring in ActiveSync I can happily browse to OWA on the same server via
IE.
If anyone has any further info on this it would be much appreciated.
