At home I share a Windows XP Professional (SP2) notebook with my wife.
Each of us has an user account. The users are logged in and we simply
switch the user when the other wants to use the computer.

I am using ActiveSync 4.5 to sync the data of my WM5 PDA device to
Outlook over usb connection. When I switch from the account of my wife
to my account then ActiveSync pops up (even if the PDA is not
connected) and disables the usb connection setting. So the next time I
connect the PDA to the computer it is not recognized until I manually
enable usb connection in ActiveSync.

Is there any way to fix this fault?

Dirk

Hi Dirk,

Does she require ActiveSync on her profile?

Hi Dirk,

This issue doesn't seem to be happening on my Win XP PC.. tried switching
multiple times but no pop up of ActiveSync or disabling of USB. If a
reinstall/repair doesn't work for you, try downloading and placing KillSync
in the Startup folder of your wife's user account. This will prevent
ActiveSync from loading in her profile. And then check if the issue persists
when you switch to yours.

Hi Raj,

thanks for your advice. I think I will try to reinstall ActiveSync
first. If that doesn't help I will give killsync a try.

BTW: Just a thought: I recently removed admin privileges from our two
Windows accounts to make surfing more secure. May this be an issue? So
maybe I'll add the users to admin group first.

I'll post the results tomorrow.
