Paul (and other MVP's, helpers, et al:)
First, I do want to thank you for your assistance - I know you are all
volunteers here, and I do appreciate everything you are doing -
without help from people like you, I would be suffering a lot more
with unresolved issues. Many times, searching for solutions has
provided me with ways of resolving issues that MVP's answer because
manufacturers and developers are not spending time and money on
problem resolution and I really do appreciate your time and effort.
And please forgive my 'circular links' - I was trying to point to
other peoples' issues which are out there in multitudes, but failed.
That being said, and looking back over this thread, I must say that
the issues revolving around AS 4.5 are a bit confusing, and we are
probably talking about multiple symptoms all occurring around similar
activities, and people like me mislabeling and bundling them all into
"conflict resolution".
The bottom line is this: resolving conflicts (records that differ from
one device to the other) is the true problem here - it doesn't work
properly. Whether it's part of a module actually called "conflict
resolution" is semantics IMO.
Paul's synopsis illustrates one issue.
I will document some precise examples over time, though I must admit
that I am not using the sync as much given the problems, and I am
slammed for time right now.
Thanks for any / all help you can give. I do understand that bugfixing
can only be considered if there is a way to repeat a problem that is
truly classified as a bug.

So that was a "yes", this describes the problem and the version of Windows
Mobile doesn't matter and the version of ActiveSync doesn't matter (I know
this isn't true)? And it is an earlier date, but still in the future, as
far as the calendar change?

Paul - thanks for your speedy response.
I do believe that the version of WM does matter and the version of AS
does matter - forgive me if I am not responding to your questions
adequately.
I am using WM6 and AS4.5.
I didn't have this problem with WM5, but I think I upgraded both apps
on the same date, so who knows.
As for the specific issue caused by the problem, please stand by for
actual examples. Suffice to say for now that I haven't checked past
appointments, and so do not know how/if they have been impacted.
I do know that I lost updates to upcoming (thereby future)
appointments.
This truly is a link to another person expressing related problems, as
well: https://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsMobile/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3D199=

- contrary to something said earlier, it isn't a link back to this
topic at all - check it out - many others expressed their issues here
- have you checked it out?

I have no means of validating the error. My device is WM5 and, since AS4.2
works fine with that, I'm somewhat reluctant to upgrade. However, a clear
problem statement with suitable version information might help get this
fixed. When I say "suitable version information", it's going to take the
entire version number of everything, WM6 (Device Information Control Panel
applet contents, typically), and the version information for as many of the
AS DLLs and EXEs as you can find. When you have a failure that you can
adequately describe, post a real problem description here, including the
version information for everything you can get your hands on, and I'll try
to forward it to someone at Microsoft. Till then, I'll wait...

Thank you, Paul. That is truly fair. And yes, if I were in your shoes
and dependent upon sync results, I wouldn't upgrade right now, either.
(Although, I'll bet you could adequately describe the sync issues if
you did... hmmm.... on second thought.... couldn't get you to be THAT
altruistic, could 'we'?... ;) )
