Hi
I installed Active Sync onto my Windows 2003 Server with SP2.

It worked for a few days, then failed to connect (can't see the device
although windows detects it being connected and triggers ActiveSync to try to
establish a connection).

I ran the troubleshooter which reported:-

ActiveSync is not compatible with this version of Microsoft Windows. Please
upgrade to Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP1 or later.

But Windows 2003 Server is supported and was working.

Any ideas?

Hi,
Do you have a software firewall installed? ?Is the DHCP Client service
enabled?

I don't run any firewall on the server, the clients are all trusted and the
network itself is protected by a hardware firewall.

DHCP client is enabled. The server is the DHCP sourec for teh network, so
obviously it has a static address, but the client is still enabled so it can
get dns updates.

Regards

Hi,
With Windows Mobile 5.0 and later devices they are DHCP servers to the PC
which has to be a DHCP client.

Take a look at
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm It
covers step by step what is required to connect.
