in the microsoft.public.pocketp.activesync section.)

Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices]

==============

Microsoft has just released a public beta of Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2.
The beta is available for download from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync42.mspx

We encourage everyone to download, install and use this newer version
and provide feedback on your experience.

We have created two ways for you to provide feedback. We have created
an email alias and a newsgroup. The email alias is ASTell, and the
newsgroup will be microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync.beta. The
newsgroup will go live on Monday 5/1. Based on the anticipated volume we
will not be able to respond directly to every email or post, we will be
reviewing all incoming messages to insure that the feedback is addresses
as we continue to improve the Microsoft ActiveSync product.

Thanks,

Ken Lavering

==============

Installed it about an hour ago and it seems to be a significant
improvement over earlier versions... some nit's but nothing serious yet.

Any idea what they've fixed? Is there a read-me file that covers it? I
don't particularly want to install it just to get the documentation, and
there didn't appear to be anything on their website...

I was going to take one for the team to see if it included docs so I could
post them here, but it started to install, then told me that the install
had been interrupted before it could be completely installed and to
re-run setup.exe. I rerean, same thing.

Still no wifi synch, no discernable difference, still fails to sync
completely. Must win the award as the worst piece of software MS has
produced.
