 ActiveSync 4.1. has developed a condition, where - everytime it starts
synching - it pops up a dialog telling me it encountered a critical
error, from which - as it claims - it "... will be able to recover, but
next time I reconnect this may cause some changes since the last
successful sync to be lost".

But regardless from what I do: next time it pops up the same stupid
error message, so obviously it can NOT recover from that error!

And what can I do to leave that endless loop?

 Where is the sequence does it do this? have you tried selecting each
Item indivitually to locate to problem?

I have a bigger problem, as soon as it starts, the whole machine dies
in a BSOD :-P

Did you attempt a sync without any of the information types enabled in
Activesync?
