I have a problem with Active Sync 4.1, Windows Smartphone 2003 (i-mate
SP3i) and Bluetooth.

Although I can obtain a connection via USB and via the IR port, I cannot
obtain a connection over Bluetooth. I am using a Belkin Bluetooth USB
adapter but I have also tried a TDK adaptor (with both the Microsoft and the
TDK Bluetooth stack) with identical results. I am as certain as I can be
that the Bluetooth sub-systems are behaving correctly.

I am aware that there is a recommendation to not use 4.1 with Smartphone
2003 but ActiveSync 3.8 has proved even less successful in obtaing a
reliable connection. I have also been through all the troubleshooting steps
given on the Microsoft Windows Mobile site and not found any problems.

When I attempt to open an ActiveSync connection, I see the Bluetooth serial
port open and ActiveSync gives the 'Connecting' message but the connection
is never established. After a delay ActiveSync reports failure and closes
the serial port (even if it was open before ActiveSync wanted it).
Sometimes, but not always, this leaves the serial port on the Smartphone in
an undefined state so that it is no longer possible to connect to it until
either the phone is turned off and on again or the Smartphone bluetooth port
is deleted and reinstalled. Turning Bluetooth off and on again does not
reset the port to a useable state (is there any way of resetting this
port?).

In the wcselog'log for each failed connection attempt I see:
-----------------------------------
01/11/2006 14:58:44.482 Process
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\WCESMgr.exe p(1008)
01/11/2006 15:10:47.492 p(448) t(2352)
TraceToFile -> ERROR in CRAPIListener::AcceptConnection :
hr = 0x8007274a - rapiconnection.cpp(268)
01/11/2006 15:10:47.492 p(448) t(2352)
TraceToFile -> ERROR in CRAPIDesktopPrivate::ReceiveConnection :
hr = 0x8007274a - RAPIDesktopPriv.cpp(372)
01/11/2006 15:10:47.492 p(448) t(2352)
TraceToFile -> ERROR in ServerThread :
hr = 0x8007274a - rapimgr.cpp(493)
-----------------------------------

I would be most grateful for any advice that people here might be able to
offer on what might be going wrong and how to correct it.

did you solve it already? I'm now experiencing similar problem, having
rapimgr.exe process using 100% of my CPU. Can't connect my mobile via
AS no
more. Log repeats this:

03/23/2006 17:26:46.448 p(4024) t(4064) TraceToFile -> ERROR in
CRAPIListener::AcceptConnection : hr = 0x80070006 -
rapiconnection.cpp(268)
03/23/2006 17:26:46.448 p(4024) t(4064) TraceToFile -> ERROR in
CRAPIDesktopPrivate::ReceiveConnection : hr = 0x80070006 -
RAPIDesktopPriv.cpp(372)

- Reinstalled both AS and Office, to no avail however.

No idea what more to check...
