I have a new Sprint PPC 6700 phone running WM5.0 and ActiveSynch 4.1. I have
not been able to get AS to recognize my device, although it does now see the
USB connection (PC is running XPpro w/ SP2). The connection activity times
out with no joy after about 10-15 mins.

I have contacted sprint and tried all their suggestions, which included a
couple of posts from these forums. This connectivity was the reason for
getting the phone and I have struggled with this for two weeks, including
the removal of a VPN client and others... Does the firewall suggestion
include MSs own?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

It seems that something is preventing TCP traffic to the device. If you are
running a third party firewall, the TCP ports will need to be manualy
unblocked.

I originally had this problem and its because I had the DHCP Client service
in XP disabled, because I use static IPs.. but since Active Sync 4.x uses
TCP/IP and needs to provide a DHCP device between your computer and the
device via a private network connection.. it needs this service..
