The iPAQ5550 was synching pretty well with AS 3.71. I upgraded to AS4.5 and
discovered the synchs weren't working. Microsoft acts like Pocket PC 2003
doesn't exist. Anyone know the most up-to-date available version which will
work with PC 2003?

No offense, but the first rule of Activesync is "if it ain't broke,
don't fix it!"
I'm still running the AS 4.5 Beta, and never installed the release
version out of fear. The beta's working fine- I'm not changing
anything!

Actually all 4.x versions support 2003, including 4.5. However, 3.8
is the highest version I recommend (unless you also sync with a WM5
or 6 device that requires 4.x) because sync over wi-fi was removed
with 4.x.
Typical AS fixes include unistall/reinstall AS, delete/recreate
partnership, and turn off all sync items (contacts, calendar, etc.)
and turn them on one by one until you find the one causing the problem.
We might be able to help with more info- "synchs aren't working" is
like telling an auto mechanic your "car is broken" and asking for a
diagnosis. ;-)
For example, is the PPC connecting to Activesync (are you getting the
"doo-doo-loop" tone?) Is the Activesync icon spinning? Does it just
spin forever? Does it stop with any kind of error message? Does
everything "look like" it's working but some items aren't syncing?
Let us know what "synchs weren't working" means, and maybe we can help.
