Having formated to NTFS, and realised the hard way that the 9700
drivers only work if installed first from the System CD then from any
web drivers, I wanted to add back in the startup sound.

Sadly, I cannot find it on the system cd. Does it exist there? If so
can you advise or failing that, can you e-mail me the wav? Thanks

Harcon, did your ferrari come formatted FAT32 initially? I'm asking because
a friend of mine just got a Ferrari (model unknown) and the 80gb hard drive
came partitioned into to 40gb drives both FAT32 which really seemed odd to
me. He purchased it from a local pc shop and I wonder if they installed XP
Pro or if it came that way from Acer.

Yes it came with 2 partition which were FAT32, and a hidden System
Partiton. I got Pro on mine, but there is a cheaper version that has XP
home as well.

My friends also had Pro installed. I just can't image why Acer would choose
to install XP on a FAT32 partition. Every desktop or laptop that I have
seen in the last several years come partitioned NTFS. What was the reason
you made the conversion to NTFS.

Hi, as far as I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, the reason that
Acer uses Fat32 is because the restore discs will only work with that. If
you convert to NTFS then you'll not be able to do a restore...
