I need to access a printer installed on a remote machine that it dialing
into our server with using Routing and Remote Acess on SBS. The printer is
shared on the remote machine and I can access it fine from the server.
However, I cannot see the shared printer or browse and any other shared
files on the remote computer from other computers on the network. (It is
necessary for me access the printer directly from other computers on the
network.) I think a remote access security policy may be blocking this. If
so how can I change it?

do not understand exactly what your environment is about:

- you have SBS with directly attached printer that is shared
- you are dialing to the SBS and want to use the printer

or

- you have SBS that is itself dialing to some other remote computer that has
a printer attached

I have a computer at a remote office that is dialing into my SBS server.
The remote computer has a printer attached that I need to print to from the
computers on the local network. However, I cannot access the printer from
computers on the local network.

The SBS server that is also acting as the VPN server will need to be
configured to forward IP traffic in the Remote Access Management Console for
the properties of the VPN server. Also check your Remote Access Policy to
see if there are any restrictions for input/output filters which be default
there would not be. See if you can ping the server with the printer by
either name or IP address from one of the computers that can not access the
printer to see if basic network connectivity exists or not. Accessing a
computer via My Network Places over a VPN connection usually does not work
unless wins is used as the broadcast traffic that is used to build the
browse list does not usually go over the VPN connection though there is an
option in Windows 2003 server VPN properties to allow netbios over tcp/ip
for the VPN which may or may not work well. You may also want to post your
question in the ras_routing newsgroup. --- Steve
