Is this a limitation?

When I try to access discovered video from a network share not on the Media
Center source PC (e.g. a NAS device) on an Xbox 360 I get the following
message box pop-up on the Xbox360:

"Video not supported: Video cannot be viewed in Media Center from a Remote
Desktop connection"

I can play video physically stored on the Media Center PC and can also
access content (music/pics) from the NAS device (a Buffalo Linkstation)

I am not logged into the Media Center PC via Remote Desktop from another PC
on my network. I do do this regularly however, so I ensured I restarted the
Media Center PC in case it was caching something somewhere...

Any tips? Bit of a deal-breaker this one as all my downloaded content goes
straight to my NAS - don't have sufficient storage space on the Media Center
PC as it only has a 40GB laptop drive...

Regards,

Alan

If you copy the files to the hard drive in your Media Center PC, do they
play without issue? Also, how does authentication and sharing work on your
NAS? (is it straight SMB with no read access allowed for everyone?)

On the general topic of accessing content on other PCs, the following may
prove helpful:
