I'm trying to connect my Smart Phone (M5000) to synch over the air but there
are no events 3002 or 3005 in the logs and nothing is listening on UDP 2283.

I've tried synchronising both to the PC and to the Server using Bluetooth
and AS on the PC. The PC sync works but sync-ing to the Server returns the
'The Server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporary network
conditions' SC: 80072eff

Everything else looks fine as per
http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/04/03/424028.aspx up to 'Configuring
Direct Push on the client'.
What have I missed that is so glaringly obvious?

Does Outlook Web Access work OK on this Exchange Server?

OK. When we installed Exchange Server 2003, it came with all the necessary
defaults for mobile access enabled, including those in the article you
reference that deal with Mobile Services Properties. I don't have SSL setup
yet, this is a single server and I don't have the necessary FE/BE "tricks"
in place to make this possible. All I had to do with my PPC-6700 was point
the "Configure Server" settings at the Exchange Server, supply my
credentials, UNcheck the "Server requires SSL" checkbox, and tell ActiveSync
to run. Every thing worked just as advertised; if I set the sync schedule
on the PPC to "As new items arrive", they hit the mobile Inbox just about
the same time as they hit Outlook on my desktop. I do NOT use this feature,
however, as it very quickly became apparent that it dramatically shortened
battery life. I've reset the schedule to every half hour and this seems a
reasonable compromise. I've set two other phones up this way (Treo 700w's)
and they both work fine.

The reason I asked about OWA is Exchange Sync is going to use the same port
as OWA; 80 without SSL, 443 with. If you can use OWA and OMA, Exchange Sync
should work.

SSL - Brilliant. It was working for a while but now the device is saying
'Waiting for Network' in ActiveSync.

Any thoughts?
