Recently (March 17 or thereabouts) Microsoft changed atscchannels.xml in my
area so that the physical channels of three local channels

KCTS, KSTW and KWPX

point to their POST-transition channels. This has broken the reception of
these three channels for anyone using MC to watch local broadcasts in the
Seattle area.

please reset the physical channels for these three channels back to their
PRE-transition channels until the actual transition.

Aren't these 3 channels still broadcasting in NTSC analog on their original
channels and concurrently broadcasting ATSC digital on their post
transmission channels?
Please provide an example of one of the stations analog channel number and
of the same stations digital channel number as listed in MC?

this has been happening countrywide for at least 6 months. Chicago
lost WGN.

Microsoft claims its not their problem:
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/229543.aspx

But this, combined with the lack of subchannels, pretty much guts the
functionality of MCE for HDTV.

BTW, there is a hack to fix it if you werent aware of it:

Yes, they are all currently broadcasting on NTSC analog on their original
channels AND broadcasting ATSC digital on another channel.

Example: KSTW ATSCphysical=36 ATSCremapped=11 NTSCanalog=11

All three are going to move their digital channels to their current analog
channels POST-transition. But not until.

POST-transition example: KSTW ATSCphysical=11 ATSCremapped=11 NTSCanalog=no
longer broadcasting

So, the mistake that MS made is updating the atscchannels.xml to reflect the
POST-transition settings rather than the PRE-transition settings.

BTW, I'm aware of the atscprefs.xml workaround and am currently using it.
Just trying to save some heartache for local Seattle MC users.

With the ATSC tuner KSTC be showing up as 1011 in MC is its alias of real
channel 36 which is where it will still be after channel 11 is not being
broadcast live OTA.
Channel 11 in MC will still be used in MC for analog channel signals being
received over cable
