on 30SEP2007, I was unable to record a HD Show from ABC because it is
prohibited by the broadcaster. This is not the first time or network. What
is going on? Why not? I was under the impression that the Broadcast Flag
mandate was thrown out. Why does Microsoft enforce this then if they are not
required to do so? I just want to be able to watch it later, then delete,
and nothing more exotic than that. So why can't I?

The mandate that manufacturer's honor the broadcast flag was thrown out.
That doesn't mean that they can't voluntarily honor it. MS chooses too.

Are you certain that the recording failed because the broadcast was flagged
to copy never and have you tried to rule out any other possible cause. I'm
curious because I record a "lot" of programming via ATSC tuners and have
never encountered a program that wouldn't record. Also could you tell us
what programs you've had problems recording?
