I was reading the manual for my newly aquired notebook, and it describes
three removable sections of the base of the notebook. obviously one for
RAM, another for HDD and the final one is apparently for
replacing/updating the CPU. has any one heard about this?

I downloaded the manual, and read pages 14-15. It says:
5. and 6. WLAN and memory compartment (shared cover, in the middle)
7. HD compartment (at lower right)
8. CPU (at lower left)

So yes, it's possible, on some models, to easily change processor
