My Activesync 4.5 has developed an annoying problem recently.
I had to reinstall Office 2k/Outlook 2002 on XP pro sp2 recently, and since
then, around every other time I reboot AS looses the settings for outlook -
or at least it cannot see Outlook and complains that it cannot sych
emails/calendar tc.
This always manifests by it asking me for the four digit code for my
pocketpc phone.
I have to uninstall AS then reinstall it each time.

Hi,

Could you post the exact error message that you experience. You will be
prompted with the four digit code if you have password protected your mobile
device.

Its not an error message as such, more a warning - "you will not be able to
sych emails etc" - and then tells me to install and run Outlook.
Outlook is already installed though. I did actually try to reinstall
(repair) outlook the first time, but if I remember, AS still couldn't see
it until I'd reinstalled AS.
Next time it happens, I'll grab the text of it.

After a long wait.....

"Microsoft Active Sync"

"You will able to synchronize only files, folders, and other non-Outlook
items if you continue.

To synchronize E-mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes with this
computer, do the following:
Disconnect the device, install and run Outlook, and then reconnect the
device and complete the Synchronization Setup Wizard"

Now, (re)installing Outlook does not do the trick - I've tried that.
Uninstalling-reinstalling AS 4.5 does work though.
