On an Dell desktop running XP Pro I have installed a Kensington micro
bluetooth adapter and the latest Toshiba stack. I can get the PC and the
phone to pair, and each is detecting the other, but AS simply refuses to
acknowledge that there is a connection. Is there a trick to making AS work
across the BT pairing?

Have you "told" AS you want to use BT? AS supports USB and one user-
selected serial port, whether cabled, IR or BT. On the PC, go to AS' file
menu, select Connections (oris it connection settings? I forget. It's NOT
"Get Connected") You'll see a dialog open up. Check the box to allow
connection with a serial port, and select your BT's virtual serial port in
the drop down list (mine, for example, is COM4.)

Yes - I told it to use the virtual COM7 port but it wouldn't connect.

It's been awhile since I set mine up, so I'm remembering it a bit hazy, but
I think I had to set up the pairing and discover the Activesync service on
the PC from the _device_, not the PC. When I first tried from the PC it
didn't work (it paired and I could transfer files, but couldn't sync.)
Try deleting the pairing and start again from the device- (you'll need to
set the PC to be "visible" to be discovered, but find the PC with the device,
then discover the AS service and try syncing that way...)

Please log in for more thread options Yes, that's true. You have to do the pairing from the device and select the
ActiveSync service when it shows up as one of the services provided by the
PC.
