Any particular reason given by MS as to why they eliminated the Sync
Settings for Contacts in AS 4.1? I don't see anything about it in the MSKB.

I just installed 4.1 after using 3.7 & 3.8 for the last few years, because I
just purchsed a Cingular 8125 w/ WM5. I miss 3.8 already!

Used to be that you were able to select specific Contacts to sync in the
settings. But now the settings for Contacts is grayed out.

So if you have >2,000 contacts in Outlook 2003, and you most certainly don't
want all of them on your device, how do you accomplish that?

Or don't you?

Thanks.

Hi Jim,

Its the WM 5.0 device design which doesn't support the Settings feature of
Contacts within ActiveSync. If you connect an older device with AS 4.1 it
will appear.

At the moment the only work around I can think is that you move the contacts
that you do not wish to synchronize into another folder. Since AS supports
sync of only the default Contacts folder.

Jim:

I manage my mother's address book through an Outlook floder. Raj's
suggestion is actually superior to the pick-list. IIRC, the pick-list
had no memory from session to session, but once you put something in a
folder, it's there to stay.

Thanks folks.

I do already have my contacts split into several folders, for other
purposes.

Guess I'll just have to rethink my folder structure and break it down
a little more.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Hi,

Just to add, if you are in the habit of using folders to sort your contacts,
then you might want to take a look at the Outlook PCS add-in -
