A dummy question about black/white DEM map production:

Is there a standard practice in displaying DEM in grey-scale palette - low
areas as dark shades and high areas as light shades, or vice versa?

Thanks.

John

John,

When I work with DEMs usually use the low areas as dard shades and
high areas as light shades. I can't recall seeing the opposite, and
personally I think it looks better. I hope this helps.
