A Question About Pocket PC's and Macs Pete Holland Jr. 11-28-2005

My dad has a brand new Mac that he is enjoying, save for one tiny
detail--his Pocket PC, the specs of which I will get to anon. I purchased
the Missing Sync software so he can connect his Pocket PC to the Mac. But
things aren't working quite right. It will sometimes create duplicate
records of nearly everything in the address book. Once mounted, he can
access every file in the file system except the My Documents folder, which
is where all the documents go under the Windows sync software at his work.

My dad says that Missing Sync doesn't work correctly. My theory is that
Missing Sync is for current generation Pocket PC's. His is a Toshiba e740
running Microsoft Pocket PC Version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178). It has a 2001
copyright date. I suspect that the OS has evolved, and syncing this with
newer software is creating problems (well, that and the fact that it has
never exactly worked right, he needs to soft reset it every once in a while
to make it sync with the Windows computer, and that's been for as long as
he's owned it).

He is willing to buy a new Pocket PC if he needs one, as long as it is still
Windows compatible for work. This is pretty much a no brainer. But the
trick is making it work under the Mac. Does anyone know what might be the
problem?

Sincerely,
Pete Holland Jr.

Easy one: Junk the Mac and get a proper PC.

Wow, I'm impressed. It took close to two days before the anticipated
idiotic remark was put forth.
