"Conclusion: Gullies are sensitive to seasonal solar
insolation and temperatures. We propose that gullies
form on slopes with geometries (elevation, slope, azimuth)
that result in a specific temperature pressure
environment (not too hot and not too cold) conducive
to both the preservation and melting of ice in the uppermost
subsurface."
