Worth upgrading? Or wait for final version?
4.1 sure is buggy, even worse than my previous 3.8. Will 4.2 finally be an
improvement in the weakest part of Windows Mobile (Activestync)?

_If_ you are having any problems with 4.1, I'd personally recommend
trying it... my experience is that it is much better than 4.1 even
though it still has problems.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try it.

Please log in for more thread options Hi,
If you do not have a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, I would suggest staying with
ActiveSync 3.8.
Otherwise I would suggest upgrading if you are having problems with
ActiveSync 4.1 and a Windows Mobile 5.0 device.

Yes, I do now have a WM5 device, so am using 4.1.
I did once write before, when I only had a WM2003 device, wondering whether
it might be a good idea to upgrade to 4.1, since 3.8 was so buggy. I was
advised as you do here, not to upgrade to 4.1, unless one had a WM5 device,
so I didn't.
When I got my WM5 device, about a month ago (T-Mobile (USA) MDA), I upgraded
to 4.1, and saw why the upgrade was not recommended. Not only is 4.1 no
better than 3.8, it is worse. 4.1 is really lousy!(I don't know who
Microsoft has working on
Activestync, but I doubt it's their best programmers!)
So, even though 4.2 is still in beta, it might be less problematic than 4.1?
I might try it then. Would you recommend uninstalling 4.1 first, or just
installing over it?
What I really think might be a good idea for Microsoft to do, rather than
making incremental changes to an incredibly buggy app (which has caused many
people problems and hours of time dealing with issues like lost data, etc.),
would be to scrap AS completely, and start from scratch with a new sync
program. AS is so bad, I doubt it can be fixed. (I doubt Microsoft will take
my advice though. ;-) )
In any case, thanks for the advice. I'll try 4.2
