 Hi,

Is there some freeware or shareware tool which can be used to view
shapefiles in 3D ? I don't need any analyst features, just plain 3D
viewing with zooming and rotation.

I need to view 3D shapefiles (with x,y and z coordinates) and 2D
shapefiles where the z coordinate or "height" is in an attribute for
each feature.

Have a look at OpenJUMP, PIROL Edition:
