I'm using a 32" LCD as a second monitor, and purposfully bought an HDMI to
DVI cable to make use of its 'high definition' feature. There are only two
resolutions that use the entirety of the screen (the rest are too small,
narrow etc) but only one of those two work without flickering, and
unfortunately it is the smaller one of 1200x720ish (i'm on my mac at the
moment and cant check).

To get to the point, is there any way of utilizing the higher definition
(something around 1300x900 i think) without the screen flickering?

Thanks to any help.

You don't get better resolution using an HDMI/DVI interface then you do with
a YPrPb component resolution unless you are trying to use a resoution much
higher then 1080p.
Unless your graphics card has sufficient memory and Graphic Procesing Unit
power it will not be able to output to multiple high resolutiion displays
without dropping frames/and or stuttering.

Not necessarily true. My flat panels will do 1360x768 through HDMI or VGA,
but only 1270x720 (720p) through component. I think this is pretty common.

Ok well first of all I am back on my PC so i can confirm - I am currently
using 1280x720p which fills the entire screen but is just enlarged pixels. I
want to be able to use the resolution 1920x1080 which is the flickering one
(on every refresh rate).

Are you saying a better graphics card would do the trick?
If so what would you recommend as an upgrade? (I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600
Series at the moment)
