Ok. I'm really no dummy when it comes to hardware and software. But I'm
baffled by why this doesn't work.

For the past 5 months, I've been battling with my system to run 3 digital
cable tuners on my Vista MCE system. And everytime I think I've figured it
out, I'm still getting nowhere. I'm wondering if it's the fact that I have
3 DCT's (rather than an even number) or if it's something I'm doing wrong.

I've run into problems with bad splitters, bad cards, etc. Get that fixed,
check it out using Digital Card Diagnostics within MCE, and still no luck.
I have absolutely no problem running with 2 DCTs. But I can't for the life
of me, get 3 to work.

I've done the registry hacks as follows:

All are enabled for MCE.

Tuner 1:
recordorder = 0
recordprefered = fffffffff
watchorder = 2
watchprefered = 0

Tuner 2:
recordorder = 1
recordprefered = 0
watchorder = 1
watchprefered = 0

Tuner 3:
recordorder = 2
recordpreferred = 0
watchorder = 0
watchprefered = ffffffff

As I understand it, those are really the only hacks I need to make to the
registry.

When I run, I can watch or record one show, but if I try to watch or record
another, I get an error message stating that Media Center has encountered an
error. Please restart my computer.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks.

Vista RTM only supports two DCT's at this time.

There is a hack that does work, and I've posted on my blog about the
results, but MS has asked me not to release the details. But short of that,
you're limited to two DCT's at this time.
