Most PC LCD widescreen monitors are 16:10 (not 16:9). I use 1440x900 on my
22" monitor. I notice when using MCE 2005 that recordings are skinnier than
they need to be. How can I set up MCE 2005 to use a 16:10 aspect ratio so
my recordings don't look skinny? I know I can zoom the picture within MCE
2005 but this has no effect on recordings.

I have been digging around and found this...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media
Center\Settings\MCE.PerUserSettings

There are height and margin settings. Might these correct the skinny issue?
When I use GBPVR, it saves videos as 720x480 whereas MCE 2005 saves videos
as 720x540. That obviously explains the skinny issue.

Thanks in advance!

You are right that currently the vast majority of computer LCD displays are
16:10. However in MCE 2005 I have not noticed this problem, with a 16:9
programme it correctly plays with a thin black border top and bottom, with a
4:3 programme it expands to the full height (no black border top and bottom)
and correctly uses black borders on the left and right. I have not had to
make any adjustments.

For your information, manufacturers of computer LCD panels are beginning to
switch to 16:9, this will also apply to laptops.

Microsoft needs to fix this. Not everyone using Media Center uses a 16:9 TV
or a 4:3 TV. Most I would think simply use their 16:10 computer monitors.
