-> Any ActiveSync replacement? <- Steve JORDI 04-27-2008

Hi,

I just can't stand ActiveSync anymore. This trashy application
is the worst I've ever seen in 28 years of computing.

Now I'm fed up with disconnects, full resync each time (which
takes 32 minutes). There is no way to just sync rapidly my iPaq
before leaving for work in the morning since it's very likely
that the connection will drop in the middle and ask for a full
resync.

I've tested all advises, all proposal and suggesitons, without
success.

Now, is there any tool, even if it's 200 dollars, to replace
active sync?

I'm not talking about IntelliSync, PocketMirror, etc which are
not replacing, just extending.
I don't want any more trace of activesync on my PC and have
a professional product instead.

Any suggestion?

Thanks for any help

Sincerely,
Steve JORDI

I agree and think you definitely get your moneys worth with Activesync!
While I don't know of a replacement, I have significantly improved the
reliability of my connections. I was using my motherboards onboard VIA USB
1.1 ports for connecting my Windows Mobile 6 device but since I've upgraded
my PC by installing an NEC chipset USB 2.0 PCI adapter card, I can now use
Advanced Network functioning through these new ports and the connections are
no longer dropped. Performance transferring files is still painfully slow
but as long as I leave enough time for synching I can work around that.

It's definitely the weak link with Windows Mobile devices.

None that I've heard of. Remember that there just isn't much money to be
made when Microsoft's "solution" is free, ships with every Windows Mobile
device, etc. Most people will just muddle through or get it to sync once
and leave it. There's no real incentive for a third party to try to replace
AS (and it's a big job).

It is time to switch to blackberry or Palm OS. The palm is my
favorite, but i don't think it supports Vista yet.

The problem is that, then, you don't get the Windows Mobile stuff itself
that works in a much more logical, to me at least, manner. Microsoft just
needs to fix the problem but, for some unknown reason, they don't seem to be
able to do it.
