Having spent most of my time developing other projects in the last 5-6 year, I felt that 1-Script.com is getting a bit neglected and what better reason for a site update than its 10th anniversary? So, 1-script.com is getting a face lift, so to speak, and is changing it’s character at the same time. It’s becoming a blog and not just a CGI script directory.
It’s not the first time I tried blogging on this site. The first blog here went up back in 2006 and was based on a little program called BMC (I tried but could not find the link, it must be obsolete by now). Lo and behold, the blog was hacked into within the first three months of its existence and in the process of cleaning the aftermath of the break-in, I figured it would be easier to just get rid of it.
By the way, if you are by chance coming here for one of my old CGI scripts, they’re still there! They are of not much use this many years later but if you are an Internet historian looking for some reference material and a taste of what Web programming was like in the early oughts of the 21st century, you’re very welcome to check the top right corner of this screen and find all the old scripts linked from there.
Another important section of this site is also still there – Webmaster Usenet Interface – a feature that lets you not only read but also post your messages into several selected Usenet groups of interest to Web developers. The spam abatement is already done for you there so, hopefully, it will be a more pleasant experience than wading through all the spam on your standard-issue NNTP reader
So, here it is: a dawn of a new era at 1-script.com site! Gotta go now, lots to do. Site changes of this magnitude are always involved and error-prone, so I’ll be searching and fixing issues for the next few days. If you happen to come by an issue with this site, please drop me a message using the contact form.
